We are often asked for names of ASD users who have written their own instrument controller software, but alas…your deeds have gone unpublished - until now! If you have written your own instrument controller software to control an ASD spectrometer we want to hear from you.

Spectroscopy In Analyzing Works of Art

In their investigation into the origin of the Selden Map of China, Kogou, et al. used several analytical techniques to characterize the map. ASD's LabSpec® 4 near-infrared (NIR) analyzer was used to characterize the pigment and binding medium. Future work will include the use of near-infrared analysis for direct analysis of the map itself. The non-invasive nature of ASD's LabSpec 4, plus the easily positioned fiber optic probe, means that they will be able to analyze any location on the map rather than being restricted to just a few spots or detached fragments.
